Game recap

Eagles @ Jaguars

2026 Wk 5 · JAX 19, PHI 17

A 53 yard kickoff return set up Cam Little's 57 yard winner with one second left in London.

Cam Little's 57 yarder is only the fourth go-ahead field goal of 55+ yards in the final five seconds since 1999. Philadelphia lost one of the other three too.

Rare

Every made field goal of 55+ yards, kicked while trailing by 1 or 2, with 5 seconds or less left in the 4th quarter (1999 to 2026)

That is the full list across 28 seasons of play by play. Little kicked his with 1 second on the clock, the latest of the four. Philadelphia is the only team on the losing side twice, 20 years apart: Matt Bryant beat the Eagles from 62 yards for Tampa Bay in 2006.

Why it matters. Most last-second wins are tying or chip-shot kicks. A go-ahead kick from 55 or more needs a trailing team to get barely into range with almost no clock, and the kicker to convert from a distance well past a routine attempt. Four in 28 seasons makes this one of the rarest ways to win a game, and Little needed the full distance because the Jaguars had one play to work with.

With 8 seconds left Jacksonville had a 26 percent chance to win. Two special teams plays later, the game was over.

The missed extra point is what made the ending possible. At 16-14 instead of 17-14, Elliott's kick with 12 seconds left put Philadelphia ahead rather than tying the game. Abdullah's return then took the ball from the Jaguars 8 to the Eagles 39, and Little converted from 57 with 1 second left. The lead changed hands three times in the final 3:26.

Why it matters. The return was worth almost as much as the kick. Starting at its own 8 with 8 seconds, Jacksonville would have needed a long completion and a timeout it did not have, since the Jaguars used their third timeout at 0:12. Abdullah's 53 yards turned a desperation sequence into one kick, and the win probability model priced that one kick as a coin flip.

Philadelphia ran for 22 yards on 18 carries, tied for its third lowest rushing game since 1999.

Dameon Pierce had 14 yards on 11 carries, Will Shipley 6 on 5, and Jalen Hurts 2 on 2. The Eagles had run for at least 89 yards in each of their first four games. This was the fifth time in 442 regular season games since 1999 that they finished at 22 or fewer.

Why it matters. Philadelphia averaged more than 100 rushing yards a game over the first four weeks, and this game took that away completely. With no ground game, Hurts threw 40 times for 220 yards, and the second half stalled at 94 total yards. Eighteen carries is not a tiny sample for one game, so this reads as Jacksonville's front winning, not Philadelphia abandoning the run.

The Eagles gained 94 yards on 33 second half plays and still led until 3:26 remained.

Philadelphia went into halftime up 14-7 and scored only Elliott's late field goal after it. Jacksonville outgained the Eagles 246 to 94 in the second half, but came away empty twice inside the 10, including a first and goal at the 1 to end the first half. Those two stops are why one 57 yard kick was still needed.

Why it matters. The Eagles defense kept the game alive while its offense produced minus 0.398 EPA per play after halftime. Two stands inside the 10 took away as many as 14 points. The split shows a game decided by Jacksonville's finishing problems as much as by the final kick.

Jacksonville's first win over Philadelphia since 2006 ended a five game Eagles streak in the series.

Philadelphia had won the five meetings since 2010, including the last London matchup at Wembley in 2018. Jacksonville is now 3-1 at Tottenham, and two of those three wins came by 3 points or fewer.

Why it matters. Because these teams meet only every few seasons, the five game streak spanned 2010 to 2024. Jacksonville flipped it at a venue where it has now won three of four. The two point margin also fits the series: six of the eight meetings were decided by 8 points or fewer.

Parker Washington caught two touchdowns for the first time in his career, from 51 and 27 yards.

Washington scored Jacksonville's first touchdown on a 51 yard catch in the first quarter and the go-ahead score from 27 yards at 3:26 of the fourth. The 124 yards are the second most of his career, behind 145 against Denver in 2025. He now has 14 receiving touchdowns in 43 regular season games.

Why it matters. Trevor Lawrence threw for 331 yards and both of his touchdowns went to Washington, while Brian Thomas Jr. finished without a catch on 3 targets and was the intended receiver on the interception. In a game where Jacksonville stalled twice inside the 10, Washington's two scores came on throws from outside the red zone, which is how the Jaguars got points against a defense that held them out at the goal line.
