A 4th-round Titans pick in 2014 out of Penn State, Jones has lasted 12 NFL seasons as a steady, low-volume interior anchor. He spent 7 years in Tennessee, one in Carolina, and is now in his 4th year in Buffalo — the longest non-Titans stretch of his career.

The pattern is rare: never a Pro Bowler, never a 5-sack season, but always a starter. 21.5 career sacks spread evenly across a dozen years.

Titans era (7 yrs) vs Bills era (4 yrs): tackle volume is down but QB hits per year are up.

The Bills got a better pass-rushing version of Jones than the Titans did. In Buffalo, his QB hits per year (8.0) are nearly double the Tennessee rate, and the sack total per season is also up: 2.5/yr in BUF vs. 1.5/yr in TEN.

The trade-off is tackle volume: he plays fewer base-down snaps for the Bills, who rotate interior bodies more heavily. The 6-tackle 2023 was his low point — a season ended early by a pectoral injury.

2025 sack total (3.0) is his highest in five years — at age 34.

Milestone

Jones's 3.0 sacks in 2025 is his highest single-season total since the 3.0 he posted in his last Titans year in 2020. He's done it at age 34 — an age where most interior DTs are already retired or in rotational roles.

He's now logged 3 straight years with 2.5+ sacks in Buffalo (2023, 2024, 2025) — the most consistent pass-rush production of his career, late.

21.5 career sacks — comparable to fellow long-tenured interior DTs from his draft class.

Comparison

Jones came in with the 2014 draft class — a class that produced Aaron Donald (1st round) and a long tail of solid interior players. Among 2014-class DTs still active in 2025, Jones's career line — 174 tackles, 21.5 sacks, 69 QB hits across 12 seasons — is the archetype for the "steady starter" tier.

No Pro Bowls, no DPOY votes. Just 12 years of base-down snaps, 4 ff, and an active role on a perennial AFC contender at age 34.

In 2019 he had 21 tackles and 1.5 sacks — but zero TFLs all season.

Anomaly

Jones's 2019 season is the statistical oddity of his career. He logged 21 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 5 QB hits, 3 pass deflections — solid pressure numbers — but zero tackles for loss all season.

It's an unusual line. Most interior DTs who get to 1.5+ sacks in a year register at least a handful of TFLs along the way. Jones's tackles in 2019 were almost all at or past the line of scrimmage — a clean indicator of how the Titans were using him that season: 2-gap, hold-the-point, let the linebackers eat behind him.
