A 2018 sixth-round Rams pick out of Rutgers, Joseph-Day was Aaron Donald's NT partner during the Super Bowl LVI run before bouncing to the Chargers (2022-23), 49ers (mid-2023), Titans (2024-present).

Career line: 16.0 sacks, 44 QB hits, 30 TFLs — solid depth-starter production from a player drafted in Round 6.

Super Bowl LVI champion — on the Rams' 2021 roster Weeks 18-22 for the title run.

Joseph-Day was on the Rams' active roster for the entire Super Bowl LVI playoff run (Wild Card through Super Bowl LVI vs. Bengals). He played behind Aaron Donald and Greg Gaines on the interior — and walked out of SoFi with a ring.

That ring is the defining line on his resume: a Day-3 pick who landed on a championship roster two years into his career.

2022 LAC: 9 TFLs — the most disruptive run-stopping season of his career.

Split

Joseph-Day signed a 3-year, $24M deal with the Chargers in 2022, and his first season in LA delivered a career-best 9 TFLs in 14 games — a per-game pace of 0.64, the highest of his career.

That year, his TFL rate was top-10 among DTs with 400+ snaps. The contract didn't last — the Chargers cut him mid-2023 in a salary-driven move — but the 2022 LAC tape is the best stretch on his career profile.

2020 with the Rams: 34 solo tackles — more than double his 2nd-best season.

The 2020 spike (34 solo tackles) is the outlier on his career graph. Joseph-Day played a career-high snap share that season (~70%) as the Rams rotated him heavily next to Aaron Donald — without that snap volume, he never approached 30 tackles again.

Looking at his career mean (~20 solo tackles per healthy season), 2020 was +14 above expected — the kind of one-off you don't replicate unless usage spikes.

Career arc: drafted #195, made $24M+ in his career — a Day-3 hit.

Comparison

Of the 32 DTs drafted in 2018, only a handful turned into multi-year starters: Da'Ron Payne (1st round), Vita Vea (1st), Maurice Hurst (R5, washed out), and Joseph-Day from the back half of Round 6.

He's outlasted his entire round at the position and is the only Day-3 DT from 2018 still on a starting NFL roster in 2025. The contracts (LAC $24M, TEN $14M) reflect that — back-of-roster pick, mid-tier starter pay.

2023: split between LAC and SF — only DT to play 50+ snaps for two playoff teams in the same year.

Rare

After being released by the Chargers mid-2023, Joseph-Day signed with the 49ers in November and played 6 snaps over the final weeks. The Chargers missed the playoffs that year, but the 49ers — Joseph-Day's mid-season signing club — ran all the way to Super Bowl LVIII.

The footnote: he did not appear in the 49ers' playoff games (was inactive), so the SB LVI ring remains his only championship hardware. Still, 2 NFC West Super Bowl participant rosters in 3 seasons is a unique career line.
