Harold Landry III: facts drawn from the play-by-play.
Career arc: the 2022 ACL erased an entire season — every line below has a hole where his prime should be.

The 2021 breakout (12 sacks, 22 QB hits, 14 TFL) was the peak — then a torn ACL in August 2022 erased the entire follow-up year. What's remarkable is the comeback line: 10.5 sacks in 2023, then 9, then 8.5 with a new team in 2025. He never came back the same dominant edge he was in 2021, but he also never dropped below 8.5 sacks in a healthy season post-injury. That's a different kind of useful — high-floor instead of high-ceiling.
Pre-ACL vs post-ACL: higher sacks-per-game rate after the injury, not lower.
SplitCareer split around the 2022 ACL tear
| Era | G | Sacks | Sacks/G | Multi-sack games |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2018-2021 (pre-ACL) | 64 | 31.0 | 0.48 | 3 |
| 2023-2025 (post-ACL) | 47 | 28.0 | 0.60 | 4 |
The post-injury Landry actually has the higher sacks-per-game rate (0.60 vs 0.48). In 64 pre-ACL games he posted 31.0 sacks; in just 47 post-ACL games he's already at 28.0. The multi-sack game totals are nearly the same (3 vs 4) despite the post-ACL era covering fewer seasons.
The knee took away a season, not the rusher. What it might have taken away is the upside ceiling — he's never quite gotten back to the 12-sack / 22-QB-hit peak of 2021. But the rate efficiency tells a different story: game-for-game, the post-injury version is the more dangerous pass rusher.
The Patriots signed him as their pass-rush cornerstone — and he's delivering 25% of their sacks.

Landry's 2025 share of New England's pass rush
| Season | Team | Landry sacks | Team sacks | Share |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2025 | NE | 8.5 | 34.0 | 25.0% |
New England was the worst pass-rushing team in the NFL in 2024 — 28 team sacks, dead last among all 32 teams. They signed Landry in 2025 to fix it. He responded with 8.5 sacks through 14 games — 25% of the entire team's production.
The team sack total jumped from 28 to 34 with him on board (a 21% bump), and his 19 QB hits leads the roster — ahead of K'Lavon Chaisson (18) and Christian Barmore (11). For a 29-year-old arriving from across the league, the immediate integration has been about as clean as it gets.
Week 1, 2025 vs Vegas: a 2.5-sack debut that put the new Patriots era on notice.

The Week 14, 2023 game vs Miami (3.0 sacks, 5 QB hits, 3 TFL) is still the career-best — and notable that it came after the ACL, not before.
The 2025 Week 1 outing against Las Vegas in his Patriots debut is the second-largest game of his career: 2.5 sacks, 4 QB hits, 3 TFL. His entire career has just one game above 2.5 sacks, which underscores how clean this debut was. All seven of his 2+ sack games have come in different seasons, spread across his career rather than concentrated in any single peak year.
He leads the entire 2018 EDGE draft class in career sacks — even over the #5 overall pick Bradley Chubb.

Landry was the second EDGE off the board in the 2018 second round (after Bradley Chubb went 5th overall). Seven years on: Landry leads the entire class with 59.0 career sacks, ahead of Josh Sweat (55.0, a 4th-round pick) and Bradley Chubb (48.0, the #5 overall).
Marcus Davenport (14th overall that year) has 25.0 career sacks — less than half of Landry's output despite being the higher pick. The 2018 EDGE class was supposed to be defined by Chubb. Instead, the story of this class is a 2nd-rounder (#41) and a 4th-rounder (#130) running away from the first-round names.
Eight consecutive games with a sack in 2021 — the longest streak of his career, the engine of his 12-sack peak.
AnomalyGames-with-sack vs total games, season-by-season
| Year | G played | G with >=1 sack | Rate | Longest streak |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2018 | 15 | 5 | 33% | 2 |
| 2019 | 16 | 8 | 50% | 5 |
| 2020 | 16 | 6 | 38% | 2 |
| 2021 | 17 | 11 | 65% | 8 |
| 2023 | 16 | 8 | 50% | 2 |
| 2024 | 17 | 8 | 47% | 2 |
| 2025 | 14 | 7 | 50% | 3 |
Landry's 2021 season had an eight-game sack streak (Weeks 3-10) — the longest consecutive run of his career, and the backbone of the 12-sack campaign that was his best season. That kind of sustained pressure over 8 straight weeks is rare for any pass rusher.
In every other healthy season he's had a sack in 47-50% of his games, but the individual streaks cap at 2-5 games. His path to 59 career sacks has been relentless accumulation — a sack in roughly one of every two games, season after season — rather than single-game eruptions. Compare that to Myles Garrett and T.J. Watt, who each have games above 4.0 sacks; Landry's career high is 3.0.
