| Season | Team | Solo | Asst | TFL | Sacks |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2019 | LAC | 56 | 14 | 4 | 0.0 |
| 2020 | LAC | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0.0 |
| 2021 | LAC | 43 | 31 | 5 | 1.5 |
| 2022 | LAC | 78 | 51 | 10 | 5.0 |

| 2024 | KC | 59 | 53 | 10 | 3.0 |
| 2025 | KC | 52 | 48 | 10 | 2.0 |
Tranquill's 2020 line — 1 solo tackle, 0 assists — is the result of a Week 2 ankle fracture that ended his season after one quarter. The bounce-back was complete: from 78 solos in 2022 (his breakout in the LAC base) to a 1-year prove-it deal in Kansas City that became a 4-year extension after 3 straight playoff runs with double-digit TFLs.
Combined tackles per season
| Season | Combined Tackles |
|---|---|
| 2019 | 70 |
| 2020 (injured) | 1 |
| 2021 | 74 |
| 2022 | 129 |
| 2023 | 96 |
| 2024 | 112 |
| 2025 | 100 |
LAC: 5 sacks in his last 16 games. KC: 9.5 sacks in 53 games — but always on the team that wins.
SplitPre-Chiefs vs. Chiefs splits (regular season)
| Stint | Games | Comb Tk | TFL | Sacks | QB Hits |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| LAC (2019-22) | 46 | 274 | 19 | 6.5 | 11 |
| KC (2023-25) | 55 | 408 | 24 | 9.5 | 21 |
The Chargers version of Tranquill was a tackle-volume MIKE on a defense that never made it past the divisional round. The Chiefs version is slightly more efficient in every blitz column — 9.5 sacks in KC vs 6.5 across his entire LAC tenure, even though his combined-tackle rate is similar. The difference is Spagnuolo's exotic blitz packages turning Tranquill loose 4-5 times a game.
Career sacks split
| Team | Sacks |
|---|---|
| LAC (4 yrs) | 6.5 |
| KC (3 yrs) | 9.5 |
Played in 3 straight Super Bowls (LVII, LVIII, LIX) — 2 rings, plus the 2023 ring as the only KC LB with a sack in the AFC Championship.
MilestoneTranquill — 2023 playoff run (SB LVIII champ)
| Round | Opp | Solo | Asst |

| DIV | BUF | 4 | 3 |
| AFCCG | BAL | 8 | 0 |
| SB LVIII | SF | 0 | 2 |
The 8-solo-tackle AFC Championship vs Baltimore was Tranquill's signature playoff game — Lamar Jackson never found space against the Spagnuolo box. The Chiefs went on to beat the 49ers in overtime in Super Bowl LVIII.
Tranquill's postseason resume in KC: 3 Super Bowl appearances in 3 seasons, 2 rings (LVIII, LVII as a depth piece). The 2024 Eagles loss in LIX is the only blemish.
100 combined tackles + 10 TFLs in 2025 — only the 4th time he's hit both bars, and the first in his 30s.
RareIn 2025 (age 30 season), Tranquill produced 100 combined tackles and 10 TFLs on a Chiefs defense that finished top-5 in scoring. The 10 TFLs match his career-high (also hit in 2022 and 2024).
The sack number dipped to a 4-year low of 2.0, but the blitz volume stayed up: 3 QB hits, and a tackle-for-loss rate of 1-per-10-games — both elite for an off-ball ILB. The contract he signed in 2024 is now an outright bargain.
The 2020 wipeout — 1 tackle in 1 quarter of football, then he came back to set a franchise career-high in tackles.
AnomalyWeek 2, 2020 vs Kansas City: Tranquill, in his second season as a starting MIKE, breaks his right ankle on a special-teams play in the first quarter. Final 2020 line: 1 solo, 0 assists.
He came back in 2021 with 74 combined tackles, then 129 in 2022 — the best season of his Chargers career. Three years later, he's a 2-time Super Bowl champion playing the same position. The ankle never barked again.
