Huff went undrafted out of Memphis in 2020 and built his case slowly with the Jets. The 2023 breakout (10 sacks, 21 QB hits, 10 TFL in 16 games) turned him into a $51M free agent. After a quiet first season in Philly (2.5 sacks in 8 games), the 2025 move to San Francisco has produced his second-best QB-hit total already — 15 in 16 games.

2023 Jets: 10 sacks in just 16 games, despite being a rotational pass-rusher only.
AnomalyHuff's 2023 contract year was the rare case of pure pass-rush efficiency: 10 sacks and 21 QB hits in 16 games while playing on a snap-share well below the team's edge starters. The Jets used him almost exclusively as a sub-package rusher — when he was on the field, he was producing pressure on the QB on roughly 1 of every 3 third downs he saw.
The 21 QB hits sit just outside the top-20 leaguewide for that season, but he got there in a fraction of the snaps that the leaders (Bosa 47, Hutchinson 41, T.J. Watt 36) needed.
With three different teams (NYJ, PHI, SF) the through-line is QB hits — 62 career hits, only 24 sacks.
SplitHuff career rates (regular season)
| Stat | Total |
|---|---|
| Tackles | 50 |
| TFL | 28 |
| Sacks | 24.0 |

The ratio of 62 career QB hits to 24 sacks is the Huff identity — a get-home rate of ~28% on quarterback contact. League-average converters of QB hits to sacks sit in the high 30s to low 40s%. Huff arrives a half-second late more often than the elite rushers, but the volume is real.
28 career TFLs on just 50 tackles is also a tell: he isn't asked to set the edge against the run very often. When he's on the field, the call is to attack the pocket.
2023 Week 5-15: 9 sacks in 11 games — the stretch that earned the Eagles contract.
MilestoneHuff 2023 NYJ — sack pace by stretch
| Stretch | Games | Sacks | QB Hits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Weeks 1-4 | 4 | 0 | 4 |
| Weeks 5-15 | 11 | 9 | 13 |
| Weeks 16-18 | 1 | 2 | 4 |
The Huff 2023 narrative gets compressed into one number (10 sacks) but the real story is the 11-game stretch from Week 5 through Week 15 — 9 sacks and 13 QB hits. That's the 35-snap-per-game pass rusher who Howie Roseman wrote a $51M check for the next March.
The last game of the year (Week 18 vs Patriots) was the punctuation: 2 sacks and 4 QB hits in a meaningless game.
In SF (2025) he's already produced 15 QB hits in 16 games — closer to his 2023 form than his Eagles year.
ComparisonHuff snapshots: contract year vs each team
| Stop | Games | Sacks | QB Hits | TFL |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 NYJ (peak) | 16 | 10.0 | 21 | 10 |
| 2024 PHI | 8 | 2.5 | 4 | 3 |
| 2025 SF | 16 | 4.0 | 15 | 8 |
The Eagles year (2024) ended on IR after 8 games — a wrist injury that wiped out his first season under the big contract. The 2025 reboot in San Francisco has been a return to his Jets pressure profile: 15 QB hits in 16 games alongside Nick Bosa is more in line with his 2023 efficiency than anything the Eagles saw.
The sack total (4.0) lags the QB hits — same gap as always.
