He left Seattle as a question mark — and made Miami's front-7 the most productive in the NFL.

After a 2023 ACL tear in Seattle, the Seahawks let him walk. Miami signed him on a 3-year deal in 2024. 180 combined tackles in 2025 — easily the highest of his career, and a career-best 13 tackles for loss. The torn knee turned out to be the inflection point: he came back faster, more decisive, and never missed a step.
His 2020 first-round draft class produced one elite off-ball LB: him.
ComparisonCareer combined tackles — 2020 1st-round LBs
| Player | Pick | Team | Combined |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jordyn Brooks | #27 | SEA/MIA | 774 |
| Patrick Queen | #28 | BAL/PIT | 695 |
Brooks and Patrick Queen went back-to-back at picks #27 and #28 in the 2020 draft — the only two off-ball linebackers taken in the first round that year. Brooks leads the career combined tackle race 774 to 695, and the 2025 season widened it by ~50.
His 180-tackle 2025 season is the kind of volume only 1-2 LBs produce in a typical year.
RareBrooks 2025 game logs — highest single-game tackle counts (career)
| Year | Week | Opponent | Combined Tackles |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2025 | 11 | WAS | 20 |
| 2025 | 4 | NYJ | 18 |
| 2021 | 18 | ARI | 17 |
| 2022 | 12 | LV | 16 |
| 2022 | 10 | TB | 14 |
His 4 highest single-game tackle totals all occurred from 2021 onward — and 2 of them came in 2025. The 20-tackle game vs. Washington in Week 11 is in the top tier of single-game totals league-wide this season; a 20-tackle game is roughly once-per-month across the entire NFL.
Miami unlocked the run-stop role — TFLs jumped 70% per season after the move.
SplitPer-season averages by franchise
| Era | Combined/yr | TFL/yr | PD/yr |
|---|---|---|---|
| SEA 2020-23 (4 yrs) | 115.8 | 5.75 | 4.0 |
| MIA 2024-25 (2 yrs) | 155.5 | 12.0 | 4.5 |
Pre-Miami he averaged 5.75 TFLs per year. In Miami he's at 12.0 per year — slightly more than doubling his run-stuffing splash rate. Anthony Weaver's defense (he became Dolphins DC in 2024) lets him attack downhill rather than read-and-flow, and Brooks is finishing in the backfield twice as often.
96 solo + 84 assists in 2025 — a near-perfect 1.14:1 solo ratio, the mark of a balanced second-level defender.
Milestone2025 weekly tackle log (regular season)
| Stat | 2025 Total |
|---|---|
| Solo tackles | 96 |
| Assists | 84 |
| Combined | 180 |
| TFL | 13 |
| Sacks | 3 |
96 solo tackles in a year ranks him among the few NFL LBs who carry the run-fit load and finish plays themselves. Assists are not just gang-tackle pile-ons — at 84 they confirm he's getting to the ball on nearly every play he could possibly affect. The 13 TFLs and 3 sacks add legitimate negative-play creation on top.
The ACL tear (2023) was supposed to slow him down. It made him better.
AnomalyBefore/after the 2023 knee injury
| Era | Games | Combined Tackles | Tackles/game |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pre-injury 2020-23 (SEA) | ~55 G | 463 | ~8.4 |
| Post-injury 2024-25 (MIA) | ~32 G | 311 | ~9.7 |
His per-game tackle rate climbed from ~8.4 to ~9.7 after the injury, despite changing teams and schemes. That's a >15% jump in production at age 26-27, in a league where most LBs are already past their physical peak by then. Easy to forget how unusual that arc is.
