Tyson Campbell was a 2nd-round Jaguars pick in 2021 (#33 overall) and immediately became a Day-1 outside CB starter. His 2022 (73 tackles, 15 PD, 4 INT) is still his career-best season.

After five seasons in Duval, Jacksonville traded him to Cleveland during the 2025 season — between Weeks 5 and 6. He's been on the field every week since, finishing the regular season with 87 combined tackles, 18 PD, and 1 INT across both teams.

12 PDs in 12 games for Cleveland after the trade — already more than his entire 2023 or 2024 season.

Campbell's PD totals had cratered in Jacksonville: 5 PDs in 2023, 6 PDs in 2024. After the trade to Cleveland, his coverage role under Jim Schwartz changed completely — 12 PDs in 12 games, plus a coverage-grade jump that was reflected in the snap chart.

His 18 PDs in 2025 are a top-5 number for any CB in football this year, and the Browns piece of it (12) is what's driven the second-half resurgence story.

Pick-six in Cleveland Week 7 vs Miami — his first INT-TD as a Brown, off Tua.

Milestone

Week 7 (2025), CLE vs MIA: Campbell jumped a Tua Tagovailoa pass intended for De'Von Achane, intercepted at the MIA 34, and returned it for a touchdown. It was his first INT-TD in a Browns uniform and turned a 7-point game into a 14-point swing.

He also has a 2022 fumble-recovery touchdown on his career resume (Week 17 vs Houston), so he's now scored 2 defensive TDs across his NFL career — one with each team.

2022 Campbell vs 2025 Campbell: both ball-hawk seasons, completely different teams.

Campbell's 2022 was his prime-coverage breakout — at 22 years old he posted 15 PDs and 4 INTs for the Doug Pederson-era Jags. The next three years (2023–2024) were a regression — coverage opportunities dried up and the role narrowed.

2025 has been the bounce-back, partly through deployment change (CLE plays him more on opposing #1 WRs) and partly through scheme — Schwartz's Cover-1 looks give him more man-coverage targets.

Among 2021-draft CBs, Campbell's career PD total (54) is top-5.

Comparison

The 2021 CB draft class produced Patrick Surtain II, Jaycee Horn, Caleb Farley, Kelvin Joseph, and Tyson Campbell as the early picks. Of that group, Campbell has stayed healthy the longest (no missed-season-level injury through 2025) and accumulated 54 career PDs and 9 career INTs.

That's top-5 among his class for pass deflections. The trade to Cleveland — at the *peak* of his career fastball year — was the most surprising mid-season DB move of the year.
